A wife of a walker raised the alarm when he did not return to their car as expected. The hill was covered in fog and darkness had fallen. There were concerns for the mans well being due to medical considerations.

The search manager’s initial reaction was to set up containment points, as the most likely scenario was that the man had got disorientated in the mist. The man was soon located by a team member at one of these points.

Within 1 hour of the call out, Team members were searching the grounds of Axminster Hospital for a 75 year old male who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

The missing person had been missing before, he was found by a family member on a public road some distance from the point last seen.

During the European LeTrec championships, the team were tasked to search for a reported fallen rider who was unable to move in an unknown location somewhere in the area of the route. Hasty teams were deployed, but the rider made her own way back to the finish. During the event the team accompanied the Paramedic to remote locations and when the event overran its scheduled time, acted as containment in locations accessible only to our Land Rover and on foot.

The team were on duty for 18 hours.

The team were awoken in the early hours to search areas of Tiverton for a 27 year old male despondent. The search centred around the River Exe, Great Western canal and other water features. Hasty team searches of high probability areas yield no sightings.

The team stood down at 07.30hrs.
