
Tough conditions on the Exmoor Explorer
The team are kept busy amidst the mud and rain.
Exmoor Search and Rescue Team provided rescue cover for the Exmoor Explorer Mountain Bike Marathon on Sunday. With weather conditions deteriorating from the start, over 400 mountain bike riders had to contend with heavy rain, wind and lots of mud, making this years event one of the toughest ever.
With a first aid control point positioned at the start and two land rover ambulances being moved to strategic locations throughout the route, the team were well set-up to assist any riders in difficulty.
Throughout the course of the day, first aiders on the ground treated a number of injuries from fallen riders. Those requiring further attention were able to be swiftly transported by Land Rover Ambulance back to Wheddon Cross, where the team's casualty care specialists were on hand to offer further assistance and advice.
