A very wet training session in the Quantock Hills
The team run another challenging training session.
Under the prevailing ‘drought’ conditions at the end of April, Exmoor Search and Rescue Team undertook one of their wettest training sessions to date. Following a search exercise in low cloud and rain on the Quantock Hills, the ‘casualty’ was located perched precariously on a slippery slope above a steep drop and a gully resembling a waterfall.
Once located and treated by one of the team’s trainees and a Casualty Carer, the Technical Rescue Team were called upon to help with the extraction by stretcher, back up the slope. Under trying conditions and using multiple anchor points, a stretcher team was lowered, the casualty secured and the stretcher started its smooth journey back to a safe location.
Many thanks to our guest casualty for the day. The kit has probably dried out by now!
